The Davidoff Escurio Robusto Cigar is a classic Robusto sized medium to full-bodied cigar featuring a blend of Davidoff signature tobaccos and Brazilian tobaccos from the Bahia region. The Escurio rangeis an exciting range of Brazilian cigars that delivers an intense, spicy sweet palate stimulation, coupled with the signature Davidoff refinement and sophistication.
Davidoff is a premium brand of luxury cigars which is headquartered in Basel, Switzerland. They own two cigar factories located in the Dominican Republic and Honduras and produce a wide range of cigars made from tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Honduras and the United States of America.
The Davidoff brand was founded by Zino Davidoff, the “King of Cigars” in 1946 in Switzerland when he released his first cigar, the “Chateau Latour”. By the 1960s, he was so highly regarded that he was approached by the Cuban government to make a range of cigars from Cuban tobacco. Eventually the brand would grown to include pipe tobacco, cigarettes, humidors and a range of luxury accessories.
The Davidoff Escurio Robusto Cigar features an Ecuadorian Havana seed grown wrapper and Brazilian Cubra binder. The filler is Mata Fina and Cubra from Brazil and San Vincente, Piloto and Olor from the Dominican Republic. The bigger ring gauges of the respective formats allow for more of the sweet and spicy Brazilian tobacco in the filler, which reduces the influence of the Ecuadorian wrapper.
Smoke time is around 55 minutes.
Individually wrapped in cellophane.
At the start, the cigar shows subtle notes of sweet cream and oak wood mingle with hints of salt, soon to be superseded by aromas of liquorice, leather and dark chocolate. As the cigar comes to its close, aromas of coffee and wood balanced by fresh pepper make an appearance.
Try with sweet and spicy cocktails like Ginger Margaritas, Moscow Mules and whisky or rums sours.
A maritime whisky with a salty note such as Bunnahabhain 12 also pairs very well.
