Chateau Garraud is located in the Lalande de Pomerol appellation on a variety of rich terroirs on the Pomerol plateau – gravel, clay-gravel, deep clay with “crasse de fer and clay-sand. With an average age of 25 years, the vineyards consist of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Yields are kept low via Double Guyot pruning with bud removal, grapes are hand picked and sorted prior to vinification on temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. 80% of the wine is aged for approximately 18 months in oak barrels and then blended and bottled at the Chateau. Chateau Garraud produces wines of great elegance that develop over many years with careful cellaring. The blend is generally over 75% Merlot with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
