Zidela Merlot, Western Cape

Notes – Zidela Wines, a young and energetic company, situated in the beautiful South African town of Stellenbosch, was founded in 2001. The word Zidela was taken from the Zulu language (one of the official South African languages) and means reconciliation or in broader terms to give something of yourself to help others. This 100% Western Cape Merlot is made from planted on lower slopes of the Helderberg and from sandy loam soils in the Franschhoek Valley. 40% of the wine is aged for 3 months in seconf fill oak barrles. This dry red wine has intense red berry character which dominates with oak aroma well evident in the background. It would be great with light to full flavoured red meat dishes, liver, beef and grilled foods.
